"Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress — such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors. Resilience is not a trait that people either have or do not have. It involves behaviors, thoughts and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone.” -American Psychological Association

Welcome

As a therapist, I work with children, adolescents and young adults who live and struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, issues specific to LGBTQ youth and trauma. These issues are personal to every individual and can be complicated, complex and serious. I believe at the core of every individual are the potential building blocks for resiliency. This is my guiding principle for the therapy work I do, as well as for myself. If you feel the time is right to talk about the difficulties you (or your child and family) are living with currently with the goal of creating a roadmap to resiliency, then you've come to the right place.

I provide a safe and confidential space for children, adolescents and young adults. The therapeutic process is a unique opportunity to be listened to and heard in a non-judgmental environment. It is a valuable tool for healing your mind and spirit. Through listening to you and your story, I can guide you to the path back to wellness and healing. You can build your resilient self.

Experience

I have worked with children, adolescents, families and young adults in Austin for over 25 years in various settings. Most recently I worked as the Senior Clinical Social Worker at The Adolescent Medicine Clinic at Dell Children’s Medical Group which specializes in Reproductive and Endocrine Medicine. I was part of the Integrated Behavioral Health team at UT Dell Med School’s Dept. of Health Social Work. I have also worked as a clinical social worker in the ER at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, with Williamson County schools as a school-based mental health counselor and with The Christi Center as the Coordinator of School-Based Services.

What You Can Expect

Therapy work is just that – a place where time and effort is necessary to achieve a goal or goals. However, what that looks like is entirely based on you, the individual. Some people go to therapy after a specific event and are very clear about their goal. Others find therapy after coming to the realization that there are aspects of their life that don't feel right for them. Either way, my role is to help you understand what you need and how to begin to get there. My commitment to you is to honor and value your time and energy and what you bring to this process.

Specialties

Over my professional career, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents and families. I have worked with survivors of all types of abuse, suicide survivors and victims of post traumatic stress. I have worked with individuals with substance abuse and those with these diseases in their families. I have worked with parents coming to terms with their child’s special education designation and all of the decisions, resources and advocacy that entails. I have worked with individuals who have experienced trauma, either early in life or recently, which is still affecting them as young adults. Most recently I worked with individuals who have Eating Disorders and individuals of the LGBTQ+ community. My clients are people who are working to find the best path forward for themselves despite circumstances and/or life events beyond their control.
